Texturing in Maya

Today I have learned to use textures in Maya and applying them to shapes.

First, i proceeded to create a cuboid type shape in Maya, then when I had the shape selected I then selected the hypershader tool  which looks kind of like an olive.tools (textures)

Once i was in hyper-shade i then tried changing the colour of my shape, then after experimenting i then selected the texture button which looks like a checkerboard and i then selected the file option which let me select a previously saved image. hypershade1.png

I then used the textured tool in the bottom tool bar, which looks like a checkered ball.Textured tool

I then re-mapped the texture using the uv editor.
